One step forward against false accusations

The latest decision of the immigration court opens a new chapter in the case of Vardan Ghukasyan, the honorary president of the DOK party. The court has ruled that Mr. Ghukasyan will not be extradited to Armenia; however, violations of immigration regulations committed by him have served as grounds to require that he leave the territory of the United States.

This decision is simultaneously complex and sensitive—on political, legal, and human levels. Within the DOK party and among its supporters, it has generated a variety of reactions, ranging from support to concern.

What comes next

On Monday, attorney Mr. Baghdasaryan will hold a press conference to present the details of the court’s ruling, the legal grounds, and possible developments. This is an important moment for understanding the direction in which Mr. Ghukasyan’s case will proceed.

Why are they afraid of him? He does not stay silent. He does not sell out. He does not back down.

Vardan Ghukasyan is known for his straightforwardness and his ability to speak in a firm and clear language. He says what many think but remain silent about.

In his speeches, he has repeatedly criticized the Armenian authorities—accusing them of pursuing a pro-Turkish policy, of handing over Artsakh, of weakness in matters of Genocide recognition, and of placing political interests above national ones.

However, his criticism is not limited to those in power. He has also repeatedly spoken about the inaction and theatrical behavior of the opposition, calling them “false patriots” who occupy positions while avoiding real struggle.

A figure like Ghukasyan is dangerous both for the authorities and for the fake opposition. They cannot control him; he does not engage in political deals. And most importantly, he has a public audience that believes in him.

Fear—both within the authorities and within the opposition

The current authorities of Armenia are guided by the idea of “one nation, one leader.” Any voice opposing that idea is viewed as a threat—and Vardan Ghukasyan is exactly such a figure. He is not just an opposition figure; he represents a genuine alternative.

The authorities fear him because he has a voice among the people. His speeches spread across social networks, gathering thousands of views. The opposition fears him because he exposes their false games and reveals their inaction.

Ghukasyan is the only one who clearly states that these authorities have signed a capitulation, and the opposition has silently accepted it. He points out that the country is moving toward Turkish influence, while the authorities present it as a “peace agenda.
