General Staff ask for Pashinyan to resign. Pashinyan calls the people to rally?

Petulant NIKOL Pashinyan Abuses His Power Once Again and Causes Riots

Earlier today, the General Staff of Armenia‘s Army issued a statement calling on the Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to resign.

After the PM decided to remove the deputy chief of General Staff Tiran Khachatryan earlier this week for allegedly ridiculing the PM’s claims about the ‘Iskander’ missiles used in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the military leaders voiced their opinion regarding the Prime Minister’s decision very clearly.

The General Staff of Armed Forces feels the decision to dismiss Khachatryan was done without considering the national interest but was purely a decision created by personal reasons.

Shortly after the statement was issued, Pashinyan went on a rampage and dismissed another army officer- the Chief of General Staff, Lt. General Onik Gasparyan

Meanwhile, a large number of opposition protesters flooded the streets of the Armenian capital, demanding that Nikol Pashinyan resign.

The cries of ‘’traitor’’ could be heard echoing through the streets of Yerevan and it is no secret that the majority of Armenian people consider Pashinyan signing the ceasefire agreement to be the greatest act of treason.

Protests, during which the people of Armenia persistently demand the resignation of the Prime Minister, began in November last year, after the signing of the ceasefire agreement by which Azerbaijan received large parts of the Nagorno-Karabakh territory.

‘Iskander’ Issue

After the controversial statement of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his claims related to the ‘Iskander’ missiles used in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Russian Ministry of Defense decided to shed light on this situation.

Previously, The Prime Minister stated that out of all ‘Iskander’ missiles delivered by Russia to the Armenia Armed Forces, only about 10 percent actually exploded upon impact.

Moscow categorically claims that ‘’Iskander’’ missiles were not used at all in the latest conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, all ‘Iskander’ missile complexes that Armenia bought were and still are in the Russian warehouses.

The Russian Ministry believes that the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, was misled, after which he gave unverified and inaccurate information to the media, which led to the Armenian generals protesting Pashinyan and his government.

After Deputy Chief of General Staff Tiran Khachatryan ridiculed the PM in front of the media for his false claims, the PM took revenge for what he considered disobedience by removing him from office.

This insidious gesture perfectly shows the arbitrariness of the current Armenian Prime Minister, despite the fact that Moscow’s latest statement clearly shows who is telling the truth and who is lying.

Official Statement of the General Staff

Shortly after Pashinyan’s impulsive and childish display of power and the decision to dismiss deputy chief Tiran Khachatryan, the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces issued a statement that demands Pashinyan’s resignation.

The statement says that ”the prime minister and the government are no longer able to make reasonable decisions.” Since the fallout of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the government was quick to point fingers at the Armenian Armed Forces, looking for a scrape goat to cover their failed policies. This is also implied in the statement when it accused the PM’s government of making ‘’serious mistakes in foreign policy’’ that brought Armenia to the brink of collapse.

After the statement, Pashinyan once again showed why it would have been better if he had remained a journalist, instead of getting involved in politics. Where some Prime Ministers would reconsider, pause, try to resolve all conflicts peacefully and diplomatically, Pashinyan decided to cripple the military leadership once again and dismiss Chief Onik Gasparyan.

It is still unclear whether the two commanders left their posts as all PM’s dubious decisions have to be approved by President Armen Sargsyan. And while the president himself is urging all parties to ‘’show restraint and common sense’’, Nikol Pashinyan is urging people to rally and take the issue to the streets.

Supporters and Additional Statements

When the PM said he considered the Armed Forces Statement a military coup attempt, there were numerous scientists and analysts that said his reaction was a very clear attempt to create a divide between the civilian population and the Armed Forces of Armenia, and with the goal to provoke strife and bloodshed. Because of this, Nikol Pashinyan is now compared to former USA president D. Trump and his statements fueling the riots on the Capitol earlier this year.

The Armenian Prime Minister was also caught making threats during his walk through Yerevan. The video shows that when someone yells ‘’traitor’’ from a nearby balcony, Pashinyan responds ‘’relax, relax, they will come for you.’’

Such a behavior is a clear sign that the PM no longer does what is in the best interest of the Armenian people, and is capable of condemning and endangering everyone who is against him.
On the other hand, the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces received great support from both the people but also from the Police and Justice Generals who urged the Armenian police to follow the Armed Forces’ example.

The former deputy chief of police Major General Gagik Hambardzumyan and Major General of Justice Tatul Petrosyan issued a statement saying that ”the historic moment has come to free ourselves from the traitor to the Motherland (meaning Pashinyan and the current government) and put an end to the bonds of the pro-Turkish authorities.

This was realized by the country’s armed forces, whose leadership, represented by the General Staff, sharply demanded the resignation of the main state traitor.”
The statement calls police officers to forgo blind obedience and not to follow the orders of the treacherous government, but to rally with the people in order to preserve their honor and dignity as police officers.

It seems that the Majors did not make much of a mistake when they called Pashinyan pro-Turkish, because soon enough the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs stated that ”we strongly condemn the coup attempt in Armenia.”, giving their support to the PM. Russia, on the other hand, remained neutral.

Two Armenian opposition parties also supported the Armed Forces’ demand for PM’s resignation, calling on Pashinyan to do everything he can to avoid the civil war and step away peacefully
